CVBL: Detroit Gets Win Over New York
Detroit pulled even with New York in the Eastern Conference First Round 1-1 with a seesaw 92-82 victory over New York. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Detroit star Fox. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
New York coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Fox and [New York star] Speight really put on a show for the fans."
Detroit was led by Fox (17 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, 5 blocks), Delgado (28 points, 7 boards, 1 assists), Newman (12 points, 8 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks). New York was led by Speight (11 points, 10 assists, 3 steals), Olson (21 points, a block), Crawford (10 points, 3 assists, 3 blocks).
