CVBL: Detroit Schools Toronto
Detroit are leading Toronto in the Eastern Conference First Round 2-0 with a 115-74 humiliation of Toronto, increasing calls for coach Bob's dismissal. It's looking to be a tough season for the embattled coach, who simply hasn't brought in the level of talent or coaching required to succeed at this level. Said Detroit star Gilliam after the game, "I can't be sure who to blame, but Toronto doesn't appear to be headed anywhere. Their coach hasn't brought in the kind of players he needed to, and it really didn't look like they knew what to do out there. Coach always comes up with a solid game plan for us and drills it into us, and I'm pretty sure he'd be able to do a better job than Bob is doing with Toronto."
Detroit coach David Smith refused to comment on the Toronto coaching situation. "It's easy to be critical from where we stand, but I don't know enough about that situation to comment. I'm just happy with how we played today. We've got a great group of players and they did a tremendous job."
Detroit was led by Gilliam (24 points, 5 boards, 2 assists), Kay (25 points, a steal, a block), Henderson (12 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks). Toronto was led by Daniels (22 points, a steal), Perkins (15 points, a block), Best (6 points, 2 steals).
