CVBL: Charlotte Lead 2-0 in Eastern Conference First Round
Charlotte lead Detroit in the Eastern Conference First Round 2-0. They managed this win in a classic battle of David versus Goliath - Charlotte was holding the sling and Detroit was wondering what hit them. Detroit, the huge favorite coming into this game, was ambushed by Williams and Charlotte 88-78.
Delgado was furious as he got to the locker room after the game and actually started throwing chairs at reporters who wanted comments. He did offer some poignant gestures and a few expletives which are not fit for printing. Coach David Smith was sympathetic. "Delgado is just passionate. He was the only one who showed up today. This is inexcusable."
Coach Bob of Charlotte was ecstatic. "Nobody has given us much respect at all this year. I've never stopped believing in this team, and you can see that they've never given up on us either. This is a huge win in the history of this program, and I hope we can build on it."
Charlotte was led by Williams (33 points, 0 assists, a block), Atkins (12 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals), Gonzalez (6 points, 14 boards, 0 assists). Detroit was led by Delgado (13 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Kay (18 points), Graham (14 points, a block).
