CVBL: Brooklyn Pull Ahead 2-0 in Eastern Conference First Round
Brooklyn are leading Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference First Round 2-0 after a 98-76 defeat of Philadelphia, led by Owens's great game. Although Philadelphia certainly planned for Owens in their pre-game strategy, stopping him during the game turned out to be more of a challenge. "We thought we knew how to beat Brooklyn, but we were dead wrong," said Philadelphia coach Bob. "We figured we'd try to put them out of their game plan and try to limit Owens's effectiveness, but it simply didn't happen - he was just too good."
Said Owens, "I knew I had a target on my back, and took it as a challenge. If they're going to change their game plan to stop me, it gives me that much more desire to step up and perservere. Anyway, they know what I can do now, so we'll see if they dare try this strategy again." Tune in next time.
Brooklyn was led by Owens (23 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks), Jeanlouis (20 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Hargrove (8 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks). Philadelphia was led by Roberson (13 points, 6 assists, a steal), Wagner (10 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Franklin (17 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a block).
