CVBL: Houston Advance Past the Western Conference First Round by Getting Through San Antonio 4-1
Houston got past San Antonio 4-1 to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals after cruising past San Antonio 106-80, an outcome that surprised no one. Houston was the heavy favorites coming in, and played like it. "It's easy to lose your focus when everyone expects the easy win," said star James. "But we knew a lot was riding on the game, and that reputation doesn't mean anything in the standings. The score starts at 0-0 regardless of who's playing, and you've got to prove you're the better team every day."
If Houston coach Bob can keep his players focused like that, there is no limit to what the team can do.
Houston was led by James (15 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, 5 blocks), Howard (28 points, 1 assists), Wallace (8 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, a block). San Antonio was led by Patterson (12 points, 4 assists, 3 steals), Mackey (20 points, a block), Logan (16 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals).
