CVBL: LA Lakers Pulls Out Win Over Portland 107-100
Monroe led LA Lakers to victory today over Portland in a 107-100 game. "It was a tough one to lose," said losing coach Bob. "I thought we had a great chance going in, and even now I think we'd have a great chance in a rematch. But Monroe made the difference for his team, and we really didn't have an answer today."
LA Lakers coach Andreas Helmle was equally admiring of his star. "Portland were very well prepared for this game, and our boys weren't really ready for what they faced out there. I like to believe that we'd play a better all-around game when we play them again, but we'll be happy riding Monroe and getting the win today."
LA Lakers was led by Monroe (18 points, 22 boards, 4 assists, a block), Washington (12 points, 7 boards, 14 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Sanchez (34 points, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks). Portland was led by Smith (27 points, 17 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks), Kimbell (29 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, a block), Akers (18 points, 13 boards, 0 assists).
