CVBL: Memphis On To the Western Conference Finals by Beating Houston 4-2
Memphis advance to the Western Conference Finals by beating Houston 4-2 after squeezing out a 110-101 win today against Houston. Both teams came out of the gates strong but a late game push by Memphis was just enough to hold off Houston. Coach Bob said, "This game is really a sign of things to come. We come out and play hard every night. Things are looking up, and the fans of Memphis have a lot to look forward to after this victory."
In the Houston locker room after the game, players were in a somber mood. Even after the great team performance led by Sims, they still come up short. "We deserved to win. That was our game - we just need to be able to put our opposition away when we have them down. We really were the better team." said Sims after the game.
Memphis was led by Maxwell (33 points, 2 blocks), Sigler (22 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, a block), Hayes (17 points, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks). Houston was led by Sims (16 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks), Vigil (5 points, 6 boards, 11 assists, 3 steals), Battle (23 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal).
