CVBL: Brooklyn Go Up 3-2 in Eastern Conference Semifinals
Brooklyn are leading Detroit in the Eastern Conference Semifinals 3-2 as they beat Detroit today 88-85. But the big headlines in the game came from an incident involving Detroit players and coach David Smith after the game. After the players disappeared into their respective locker rooms, Detroit players reportedly attacked coach, throwing him to the ground. Reporters waiting outside heard only pieces of the shouting, but the players were clearly upset by David Smith's questionable calls late in the game. Detroit star Lacroix was one of those involved, and was still upset about the situation during the post-game interviews. "I'm not free to comment on what happened," he said. "But I will tell you that I'm working my tail off every game and expect the same effort from my teammates and coaches."
Interviews with Brooklyn players were a bit less exciting, with Jeanlouis giving the cliche line "we're just happy to come out with the win. Coach David Smith and his team gave a good fight, but we were the better team today."
Brooklyn was led by Jeanlouis (16 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Owens (15 points, 5 assists, 2 steals), Hargrove (6 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks). Detroit was led by Lacroix (15 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 3 steals, a block), Martin (17 points, 2 assists, 3 blocks), Degraff (22 points, a block).
