CVBL: Cleveland Does What it Takes to Stun LA Lakers 88-73
Cleveland pulled off the upset, beating LA Lakers in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving LA Lakers a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept LA Lakers coach Andreas Helmle guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Courtney and others, gave Cleveland the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."
Cleveland was led by Courtney (21 points, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Rodgers (8 points, 14 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Frey (7 points, 8 assists, a block). LA Lakers was led by Washington (5 points, 6 assists, 4 steals), Monroe (7 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Cobb (18 points).
