CVBL: Phoenix Steals Spotlight from San Antonio

Phoenix gave a solid effort, handling San Antonio with ease in today's 135-122 win. This came as no surprise to Phoenix fans, who have been watching their team continue to improve recently. Players are starting to feel more confident as well. "I feel we can take on just about anybody right now," said today's star, Fripp. "The way this team's playing, there's no limit to how far we can go." Phoenix head coach Bob echoed his sentiment, saying "They all know they're as good as any other team in the league. They just have to stay focused and keep working, and the rest will take care of itself."

Lost in the excitement over Phoenix was the performance of San Antonio star Scott.

Phoenix was led by Fripp (30 points, 2 assists, a steal, a block), Virtue (24 points, a steal, a block), Mercer (11 points, 5 boards, 7 assists, 3 steals). San Antonio was led by Scott (10 points, 17 assists, 2 steals), Mack (27 points, 3 assists, a steal), Meyers (20 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, a block).

Phoenix stand at 1-0 and 1-0 at home with today's victory. They move up to #2 in the Pacific and advance to #5 overall in the Western Conference. San Antonio are now 0-1. They remain at #5 in the Southwest and drop to #14 overall in the Western Conference.
