CVBL: Houston Gets Win Over Dallas
A solid outing by Marchese led Houston to a 110-102 win over Dallas. "Take away Marchese, and we'd have won this thing," said Dallas coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Houston over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Houston coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Marchese do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Marchese will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Houston was led by Marchese (19 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, 4 blocks), Taylor (10 points, 14 boards, 4 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Aguilar (21 points, a steal, a block). Dallas was led by Lenahan (8 points, 19 assists, a steal, a block), Digiulio (29 points, a steal, 2 blocks), Dossman (22 points).
After today's win, Houston stand at 1-0 and 1-0 at home. They improve to #2 in the Southwest and move up to #4 overall in the Western Conference. Dallas drop to 0-1 with the defeat. They move down to #4 in the Southwest and move down to #12 overall in the Western Conference.
