CVBL: 101-86 Detroit
Detroit showed their mettle today with a convincing 101-86 win over Indiana. "After some of the games we've had, I think we've left some doubt as to whether we can solidly beat anybody," said head coach David Smith after the game. "I don't know that one game will erase those doubts, but I can certainly see the difference in the locker room."
The win came largely as the result of a great effort by Day, the Detroit star. Said David Smith of him, "The game would have gone down to the wire without Day's efforts today. He really made the difference between another tough battle and a dominating win."
Detroit was led by Day (22 points, 13 boards, 1 assists), Riffe (12 points, a steal), Singleton (15 points, 3 blocks). Indiana was led by Williams (19 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Archie (6 points, 2 steals, 3 blocks), Crandell (5 points, a steal, 2 blocks).
Detroit are now 1-0 and 1-0 at home. They move up to #1 in the Central and advance to #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Indiana stand at 0-1. They drop to #3 in the Central and drop to #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
