CVBL: Brooklyn Needs Overtime To Down Miami

A brilliant game plan led Miami to the brink of an upset, but in the end it was an overpowering Brooklyn team that won 115-111 in overtime. Nobody really gave Miami much of a chance coming in, except for head coach Bob. "You all think I'm nuts, but we can play with these guys. They've got the better record, but we've made some changes lately and I feel good about the level we're at."

Surprising as those words were, it was even more of a surprise when his team did as predicted and played as equals with Brooklyn for the whole game. But the perfect execution faltered a bit during overtime, allowing the more-talented Brooklyn squad to come away with the win.

"They really surprised us," said Brooklyn coach Bob. "Not that we were looking past anybody, but they played the best we've seen them play for a while. [Miami coach] Bob really got his team prepared and gave us a fight."

Brooklyn was led by Reddick (22 points, 6 boards, 12 assists, a steal), Knight (15 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Holmes (12 points, a steal, 4 blocks). Miami was led by Fenty (31 points, 23 boards, 4 assists, 3 blocks), Brown (7 points, 14 assists, 2 steals, a block), Roberson (16 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block).

Brooklyn stand at 1-0 and 1-0 at home with today's win. They move up to #2 in the Atlantic and advance to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Miami fall to 0-1. They move down to #5 in the Southeast and move down to #10 overall in the Eastern Conference.
