CVBL: New York Puts on a Demonstration
A great New York team and a mediocre Chicago team met today, the result being an expected 129-93 drubbing. New York took control from the outset, never appearing troubled in the least. Said New York coach Bob, "We've got a good group of players this year, and they pulled off the win just like we drew it up. Frankly Chicago isn't exactly tough opposition, but it was still nice to come out with the big win."
Chicago coach Bob seemed resigned to the loss even before the game, saying "We're just hoping to keep them from running away with it and not look bad. Even that will take a bit of luck; we just don't match up with these guys."
New York was led by Crawford (16 points, 11 boards, 6 assists, 4 blocks), Velazquez (18 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Powell (13 points, 12 boards, 1 assists). Chicago was led by Johnson (7 points, 8 assists, 2 steals), Smith (18 points, 0 assists), Byrd (19 points, a block).
After this victory, New York are now 1-0 and 1-0 at home. They advance to #1 in the Atlantic and advance to #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Chicago drop to 0-1. They remain at #5 in the Central and advance to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
