CVBL: Miami Pulls out the Win over New York
New York failed to make the most of their chances, coming up short 92-82 against Miami in today's contest. "They got a gift, no question in my mind," grumbled New York coach Bob. "We outplayed them today, but just couldn't come up with the big plays when we were threatening to score. I just can't wait until the rematch; we'll show them who's really the best."
Miami coach Seb Kenyon saw things a little differently. "I'm proud of our defensive effort today. They avoided giving up the big plays, and really came through in the key situations. Bob may blame his offense, but they'd have been able to score if they didn't have good opposition."
Miami was led by Thompson (11 points, 13 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks), Langley (13 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Groninger (16 points, 2 assists). New York was led by Graham (32 points, 3 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Crawford (20 points, 15 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Speight (5 points, 3 steals).
Miami are now 1-0 and 1-0 at home. They move up to #2 in the Southeast and advance to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. New York stand at 0-1 with the defeat. They fall to #3 in the Atlantic and move down to #10 overall in the Eastern Conference.
