CVBL: LA Lakers Snatches Win over Cleveland
Cleveland failed to make the most of their chances, coming up short 92-84 against LA Lakers in today's contest. "They got a gift, no question in my mind," grumbled Cleveland coach Bob. "We outplayed them today, but just couldn't come up with the big plays when we were threatening to score. I just can't wait until the rematch; we'll show them who's really the best."
LA Lakers coach Andreas Helmle saw things a little differently. "I'm proud of our defensive effort today. They avoided giving up the big plays, and really came through in the key situations. Bob may blame his offense, but they'd have been able to score if they didn't have good opposition."
LA Lakers was led by Monroe (23 points, 25 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Miller (18 points, 14 boards, 1 assists), Townsel (20 points, a steal). Cleveland was led by Courtney (30 points, a steal, 2 blocks), Chambers (6 points, 4 steals), Rodgers (10 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a block).
With this win, LA Lakers improve to 1-1. They hold at #4 in the Pacific and advance to #7 overall in the Western Conference. After the loss, Cleveland fall to 0-2 and 0-2 at home. They hold at #5 in the Central and remain at #15 overall in the Eastern Conference.
