CVBL: Memphis Beats Oklahoma Cty 106-101
The fans got what they came out for, as Memphis won a seesaw 106-101 victory over Oklahoma Cty. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Memphis star Smith. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Oklahoma Cty coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Smith and [Oklahoma Cty star] Johnson really put on a show for the fans."
Memphis was led by Smith (29 points, 5 assists), Brown (18 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Jensen (27 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal). Oklahoma Cty was led by Johnson (35 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, a block), Mcneil (17 points, 3 steals), Golden (7 points, 10 boards, 4 assists).
Memphis are now 2-0 and 1-0 at home with today's win. They fall to #2 in the Southwest and drop to #4 overall in the Western Conference. Oklahoma Cty drop to 0-2. They fall to #5 in the Northwest and fall to #15 overall in the Western Conference.
