CVBL: New Orleans Downs Toronto
New Orleans showed their mettle today with a convincing 130-118 win over Toronto. "After some of the games we've had, I think we've left some doubt as to whether we can solidly beat anybody," said head coach Bob after the game. "I don't know that one game will erase those doubts, but I can certainly see the difference in the locker room."
The win came largely as the result of a great effort by Phelan, the New Orleans star. Said Bob of him, "The game would have gone down to the wire without Phelan's efforts today. He really made the difference between another tough battle and a dominating win."
New Orleans was led by Phelan (34 points, 11 boards, 3 assists), Davis (14 points, 11 assists), Jaramillo (13 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 6 blocks). Toronto was led by Bush (22 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 6 blocks), Boll (22 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Starks (9 points, 2 steals).
New Orleans stand at 2-0 with this win. They improve to #1 in the Southwest and move up to #1 overall in the Western Conference. Toronto stand at 1-1 and 1-1 at home. They advance to #2 in the Atlantic and hold at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
