CVBL: New York Over Atlanta 97-93

The fans got what they came out for, as New York won a seesaw 97-93 victory over Atlanta. "What a great game to have been a part of," said New York star Woods. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."

Atlanta coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Woods and [Atlanta star] Fanny really put on a show for the fans."

New York was led by Woods (11 points, 15 assists, 5 steals), Anders (21 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 3 steals, a block), Frazier (18 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, a block). Atlanta was led by Fanny (21 points, 10 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks), Harriott (24 points, a steal, a block), Sonnier (17 points, 2 assists).

New York jump to 1-0. They advance to #3 in the Atlantic and advance to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this defeat, Atlanta are now 0-1 and 0-1 at home. They hold at #3 in the Southeast and fall to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
