CVBL: Washington Gets Win Over Atlanta
Griffin continues to dominate the league and helped Washington post an expected win over Atlanta, 86-83. The game was a solid team effort, but Griffin - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Atlanta key player, Perry.
Griffin's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to Washington fans everywhere." Atlanta coach Bob was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Griffin is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Perry certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
Washington was led by Griffin (13 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block), Taylor (9 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a block), Borenstein (9 points, 10 boards, 0 assists). Atlanta was led by Perry (14 points, 7 boards, 6 assists), Worrel (6 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Clay (22 points, a block).
Washington improve to 1-0 with today's victory. They advance to #1 in the Southeast and move up to #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta fall to 0-1 and 0-1 at home. They fall to #5 in the Southeast and drop to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
