CVBL: Oklahoma Cty Beats Phoenix 114-113
Phoenix failed to make the most of their chances, coming up short 114-113 against Oklahoma Cty in today's contest. "They got a gift, no question in my mind," grumbled Phoenix coach Bob. "We outplayed them today, but just couldn't come up with the big plays when we were threatening to score. I just can't wait until the rematch; we'll show them who's really the best."
Oklahoma Cty coach Bob saw things a little differently. "I'm proud of our defensive effort today. They avoided giving up the big plays, and really came through in the key situations. Bob may blame his offense, but they'd have been able to score if they didn't have good opposition."
Oklahoma Cty was led by Baxter (18 points), Clark (32 points, a block), Buford (5 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, a steal). Phoenix was led by Cruz (17 points, 11 assists, 2 steals, a block), Dixon (10 points, 14 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Hall (20 points, 5 boards, 0 assists).
With today's victory, Oklahoma Cty improve to 2-1 and 1-0 at home. They improve to #3 in the Northwest and move up to #7 overall in the Western Conference. Phoenix are now 1-1. They move down to #3 in the Pacific and fall to #10 overall in the Western Conference.
