CVBL: Dallas Handles Portland 117-97
Dallas showed who was the better team tonight with a convincing 117-97 win over Portland. Although not exactly a blowout, Dallas coach Bob and his players outplayed Portland from start to end. "I was hoping for a better outcome," said Portland coach Bob during a post-game interview. "But they just overpowered us, and there was nothing we could do to adjust. Bob's team was more talented and better-prepared, and it would have taken quite a bit of luck for us to overcome that."
The loss was tough on Portland fans, who had expected great things from their team after some offseason moves. "I think reality is starting to sink in," said one team. "We didn't expect to see other teams outplaying us this badly, but Dallas sure made their point."
Dallas was led by Jenkins (25 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Bernard (15 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Clark (20 points, 1 assists, a block). Portland was led by Chapple (22 points, 1 assists, a block), King (7 points, 2 steals), Arnold (8 points, 8 boards, 3 assists).
Dallas stand at 2-0 and 2-0 at home after the victory. They advance to #2 in the Southwest and move up to #4 overall in the Western Conference. Portland are now 0-2 with this loss. They hold at #5 in the Northwest and hold at #14 overall in the Western Conference.
