CVBL: Dallas 114, Oklahoma Cty 106
Dallas downed Oklahoma Cty today 114-106, thanks to a solid effort by star Johnson. The game lived up to its hype, with both teams having their moments but neither side able to dominate for any extended length of time. Said Johnson after the game, "This one could have easily gone either way. We're just glad that we came out with the win." Coach Bob echoed the sentiments, saying "Oklahoma Cty came out strong and ready to play, and we knew from the start that it would be a battle out there. Probably if we played them 10 times, both sides would get five wins. But we got the win today, and that's what counts."
Oklahoma Cty players were disappointed after the game, and coach Bob had his hands full keeping their spirits up. "They know they played their hearts out today, and that it wasn't enough. That's a tough feeling. Especially for Conard, who had one heck of a game but couldn't carry the whole team on his shoulders."
Dallas was led by Johnson (17 points, 20 boards, 6 assists, a steal), Howard (26 points, a steal, 2 blocks), Scroggins (20 points). Oklahoma Cty was led by Conard (25 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Bell (11 points, 5 boards, 10 assists, a steal), Johnson (16 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a block).
Dallas jump to 1-1 with the win. They advance to #2 in the Southwest and move up to #9 overall in the Western Conference. After this loss, Oklahoma Cty stand at 1-2 and 1-1 at home. They drop to #5 in the Northwest and move down to #14 overall in the Western Conference.
