CVBL: Chicago Express Steamrolls Houston 114-104
Chicago overcame a great game by Sims, beating Houston 114-104. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Sims out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Sims) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Sims was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Chicago was led by Bennett (22 points, 2 assists, a steal), Patterson (5 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Wall (12 points, 3 blocks). Houston was led by Sims (19 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks), Norman (25 points), Smith (14 points, 4 assists, a block).
Chicago improve to 3-0 and 3-0 at home. They stay at #1 in the Central and advance to #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the defeat, Houston are now 1-1. They move down to #3 in the Southwest and fall to #10 overall in the Western Conference.
