CVBL: Detroit Over Minnesota 96-87
Detroit beat Minnesota today, 96-87. But the big headlines in the game came from an incident involving Minnesota players and coach Bob after the game. After the players disappeared into their respective locker rooms, Minnesota players reportedly attacked coach, throwing him to the ground. Reporters waiting outside heard only pieces of the shouting, but the players were clearly upset by Bob's questionable calls late in the game. Minnesota star Dirks was one of those involved, and was still upset about the situation during the post-game interviews. "I'm not free to comment on what happened," he said. "But I will tell you that I'm working my tail off every game and expect the same effort from my teammates and coaches."
Interviews with Detroit players were a bit less exciting, with Kay giving the cliche line "we're just happy to come out with the win. Coach Bob and his team gave a good fight, but we were the better team today."
Detroit was led by Kay (27 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 5 blocks), Gilliam (22 points, 3 assists), Graham (17 points, a steal, 2 blocks). Minnesota was led by Dirks (6 points, 19 boards, 2 assists, a steal, a block), Mark (13 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, a steal), Lundy (19 points, 0 assists, a steal, a block).
Detroit jump to 3-0 and 2-0 at home. They hold at #1 in the Central and move down to #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota stand at 2-2 after the defeat. They drop to #2 in the Northwest and move down to #8 overall in the Western Conference.
