CVBL: Golden State Snatches Win over Philadelphia
A solid outing by Odell led Golden State to a 93-83 win over Philadelphia. "Take away Odell, and we'd have won this thing," said Philadelphia coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Golden State over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Golden State coach Perez Suarez was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Odell do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Odell will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Golden State was led by Odell (22 points, 21 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, a block), Duckworth (10 points, 4 assists, 3 steals), Chiles (6 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, a block). Philadelphia was led by Jakes (8 points, 12 assists, 4 steals), Flournoy (20 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Parker (18 points, a steal).
Golden State jump to 2-0 and 2-0 at home. They hold at #1 in the Pacific and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Philadelphia stand at 2-2. They stay at #1 in the Atlantic and fall to #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
