CVBL: Portland Wins Confidently Over Brooklyn 96-78
Portland showed their mettle today with a convincing 96-78 win over Brooklyn. "After some of the games we've had, I think we've left some doubt as to whether we can solidly beat anybody," said head coach Bob after the game. "I don't know that one game will erase those doubts, but I can certainly see the difference in the locker room."
The win came largely as the result of a great effort by Blackwell, the Portland star. Said Bob of him, "The game would have gone down to the wire without Blackwell's efforts today. He really made the difference between another tough battle and a dominating win."
Portland was led by Blackwell (19 points, 10 boards, 0 assists), Delong (21 points, 2 assists, a steal), Harris (20 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a block). Brooklyn was led by Knight (22 points, a block), Caraway (11 points, a steal, a block), Rosemond (12 points, 7 boards, 0 assists).
Portland stand at 2-1 with this win. They improve to #1 in the Northwest and advance to #3 overall in the Western Conference. With this defeat, Brooklyn fall to 2-1 and 2-1 at home. They drop to #2 in the Atlantic and move down to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
