CVBL: Miami Coach Gets Upset over Minnesota
An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as Miami upset the favored Minnesota 95-88. Jackson had a huge game for Miami, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by Minnesota star Daniels in a game that could have post-season implications.
Minnesota apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.
"You feel sorry for them," quipped Miami coach Seb Kenyon. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." Minnesota coach Bob was apologetic to Minnesota fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."
Miami was led by Jackson (19 points, 10 boards, 1 assists), Thompson (5 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Langley (16 points, a steal). Minnesota was led by Daniels (19 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks), Murray (22 points, a steal), Joseph (15 points, 6 boards, 1 assists).
With today's victory, Miami improve to 2-2 and 2-1 at home. They improve to #3 in the Southeast and move up to #8 overall in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota stand at 2-1 after this defeat. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and drop to #3 overall in the Western Conference.
