CVBL: San Antonio Spoilers for Houston
A great outing by Kirby was enough to offset a superior Houston team and key a 101-89 upset by San Antonio. There's no question that Houston is the better team, and even after today's loss they remain ranked ahead of San Antonio. But that wasn't important today, when Kirby took over and carried his team to a win. "What a gift," grinned San Antonio coach Bob. "The rest of the team got outplayed, but Kirby stepped up and got us the win. No complaints, but we'd be surprised to get another win over Houston."
Said losing coach Bob, "What a tough way to lose. It seemed like we had everything under control today. We pretty much did what we wanted, except for Kirby."
San Antonio was led by Kirby (31 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Sessoms (20 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a steal, a block), Ring (12 points, 8 assists, a steal, a block). Houston was led by Howard (30 points, 8 boards, 2 assists), Taylor (8 points, 12 boards, 4 assists, a steal, 6 blocks), Aguilar (20 points, 0 assists, 2 steals, a block).
San Antonio improve to 1-3 with today's victory. They remain at #5 in the Southwest and improve to #13 overall in the Western Conference. After the defeat, Houston fall to 2-1 and 2-1 at home. They move down to #3 in the Southwest and move down to #5 overall in the Western Conference.
