CVBL: San Antonio Pulls Out Win Over Utah 109-105
San Antonio overcame a great game by Hill, beating Utah 109-105. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Coach Young. "If we had another couple players like Hill out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Coach Young has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Hill) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Hill was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
San Antonio was led by Calkins (18 points, 11 boards, 4 assists, a block), Lynch (17 points, 3 assists, a steal, a block), Gonzalez (9 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, a block). Utah was led by Hill (34 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 4 blocks), Baker (10 points, 10 assists, a steal), Robinson (11 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, a steal).
After the win, San Antonio jump to 3-1 and 2-0 at home. They hold at #2 in the Southwest and move up to #5 overall in the Western Conference. Utah drop to 1-2. They fall to #4 in the Northwest and fall to #11 overall in the Western Conference.
