CVBL: Bob Gets Big Win over New Orleans
Memphis brushed past an overmatched New Orleans team today 104-90. Always politically correct, Memphis coach Bob stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Canul's effort helped set the pace. New Orleans is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
New Orleans coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Memphis, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Memphis was led by Canul (13 points, 23 boards, 1 assists), Hunter (5 points, 2 steals, a block), Wilkins (16 points, 1 assists). New Orleans was led by Forde (26 points, 8 boards, 1 assists), Ortega (8 points, 14 boards, 2 assists), Dunbar (15 points, 0 assists, 3 blocks).
Memphis jump to 3-1 and 2-0 at home. They advance to #1 in the Southwest and move up to #1 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans stand at 3-1. They drop to #2 in the Southwest and fall to #4 overall in the Western Conference.
