CVBL: Detroit Defeats Boston 109-104
Detroit star Bigelow led his team to a win today in a key game against Boston. Although standings were at stake, the game was as much about bragging rights as anything. The teams have a long history against each other that began when coaches David Smith and Bob traded insults after an apparently intentional injury to one of David Smith's players. Although Bob has long denied that there was any malicious intent, Detroit fans don't believe it and turn out in large numbers whenever Boston comes to town.
Detroit was led by Bigelow (21 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Alston (8 points, 8 boards, 12 assists), Sandercock (23 points, 0 assists). Boston was led by Stubbs (18 points, 5 boards, 7 assists, 2 blocks), Jackson (13 points, 8 assists, 2 steals), Odell (11 points, 15 boards, 0 assists).
Detroit are now 2-1 after this win. They remain at #2 in the Central and advance to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. After the defeat, Boston drop to 0-3 and 0-1 at home. They stay at #5 in the Atlantic and drop to #15 overall in the Eastern Conference.
