CVBL: Phoenix 111, Washington 103
Phoenix squeezed out a win today against Washington, 111-103. Both teams came out of the gates strong but a late game push by Phoenix was just enough to hold off Washington. Coach Bob said, "This game is really a sign of things to come. We come out and play hard every night. Things are looking up, and the fans of Phoenix have a lot to look forward to after this victory."
In the Washington locker room after the game, players were in a somber mood. Even after the great team performance led by Powell, they still come up short. "We deserved to win. That was our game - we just need to be able to put our opposition away when we have them down. We really were the better team." said Powell after the game.
Phoenix was led by Bell (30 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Cruz (11 points, a steal, a block), Parker (20 points, a steal). Washington was led by Powell (18 points, 2 steals), Stinson (16 points, 0 assists, 3 steals, a block), Garrett (16 points, 4 blocks).
Phoenix are now 3-1 and 2-0 at home. They improve to #2 in the Pacific and move up to #5 overall in the Western Conference. Washington stand at 2-2. They fall to #2 in the Southeast and move down to #6 overall in the Eastern Conference.
