CVBL: Charlotte Gets Win Over Golden State
Murphy continues to dominate the league and helped Charlotte post an expected win over Golden State, 103-95. The game was a solid team effort, but Murphy - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Golden State key player, Taylor.
Murphy's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to Charlotte fans everywhere." Golden State coach Perez Suarez was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Murphy is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Taylor certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
Charlotte was led by Murphy (12 points, 17 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Side (26 points, 1 assists, a block), Ziegler (21 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Golden State was led by Taylor (5 points, 5 boards, 13 assists, 3 steals), Whitley (20 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, a steal), Hannah (24 points, 6 boards, 1 assists).
Charlotte jump to 3-1. They remain at #2 in the Southeast and improve to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Golden State stand at 0-4 and 0-3 at home. They hold at #5 in the Pacific and stay at #15 overall in the Western Conference.
