CVBL: Phoenix Gets a Big Win Against San Antonio
Phoenix came out solid today, defying the predictions and notching the 121-111 upset of San Antonio. "Somebody forgot to tell them they were underdogs," quipped San Antonio coach Bob after the game. "No question, they were the better team out there today and deserved this win. I thought we came in prepared, but that was just a lot better than we've seen Phoenix play for some time."
Credit has to be given to Phoenix coach Bob, who brought his team together after some tough losses earlier and has them playing at their best. "Some of the us really took those losses hard," said star Celaya. "But coach sat us down and showed us what we were doing wrong and what we needed to do to turn around. That was great to hear, and you saw the results today."
Phoenix was led by Celaya (26 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, a block), Dupree (25 points, 5 boards, 1 assists), Brown (7 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block). San Antonio was led by Williams (35 points, a block), Thompson (10 points, 4 assists, a steal, 5 blocks), Owens (21 points, 1 assists, a block).
After the victory, Phoenix are now 4-7. They advance to #3 in the Pacific and advance to #12 overall in the Western Conference. With today's defeat, San Antonio are now 5-5 and 3-2 at home. They hold at #3 in the Southwest and drop to #9 overall in the Western Conference.
