CVBL: Miami 85, Indiana 74 in Upset Win
A walk in the park for Indiana turned into a nightmare, as Miami pulled off the upset in today's showdown. As usual after a surprise loss, the finger pointing came after the game in the Indiana locker room. "Coach didn't really bother preparing us for this game. We'd already been watching films of our next opponent," said Bowles.
Coach Hitch acknowledged that was true, but said "our next opponent is three times as good as Miami. Of course we dedicate more time to preparing for them. I'm not faulting Bowles, but if the rest of the team had played as hard we'd have won this game easily. It was a lack of effort, not preparation."
Miami coach Bob could care less whose fault it was. "We're thrilled to get the win. They can make all the excuses they want, but we were the better team out there today."
Miami was led by Scruggs (19 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, a block), Hargrove (19 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Durham (16 points, 1 assists, 3 steals). Indiana was led by Bowles (14 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Cato (11 points, 4 assists, a steal), Owens (12 points).
Miami are now 6-5 and 5-1 at home. They remain at #2 in the Southeast and remain at #8 overall in the Eastern Conference. Indiana fall to 6-3. They move down to #2 in the Central and drop to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference.
