CVBL: Detroit Complete Sweep of Washington 4-0, On To the CVBL Finals
Detroit move on to the CVBL Finals by dominating Washington 4-0 with a 94-93 win over Washington, despite a great outing by Conard. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Conard out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Conard) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Conard was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Detroit was led by Newman (22 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Delgado (18 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, a block), Fox (12 points, 6 boards, 2 assists). Washington was led by Conard (13 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 4 blocks), Edwards (20 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, a block), Langley (18 points, 6 boards, 0 assists).
