CVBL: Put it on the Board: Denver Wins

Denver showed who was the better team tonight with a convincing 91-80 win over Golden State. Although not exactly a blowout, Denver coach Bob and his players outplayed Golden State from start to end. "I was hoping for a better outcome," said Golden State coach Perez Suarez during a post-game interview. "But they just overpowered us, and there was nothing we could do to adjust. Bob's team was more talented and better-prepared, and it would have taken quite a bit of luck for us to overcome that."

The loss was tough on Golden State fans, who had expected great things from their team after some offseason moves. "I think reality is starting to sink in," said one team. "We didn't expect to see other teams outplaying us this badly, but Denver sure made their point."

Denver was led by Hamilton (8 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 5 blocks), Strong (17 points, 0 assists), Dossman (16 points, a block). Golden State was led by Williams (15 points, 2 steals, a block), Simmons (10 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, a block), Mcdougal (9 points, 3 assists, a steal, a block).

Denver are now 8-3 after today's victory. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference. After this defeat, Golden State stand at 4-5 and 4-3 at home. They remain at #3 in the Pacific and move down to #10 overall in the Western Conference.
