CVBL: New York Steals Spotlight from Chicago
In one of the most important games of the season for both teams, New York upstaged Chicago 117-93. Showing more glitter than a Brittany Spears concert, perfect New York execution, a brilliant game by Crawford, and impeccable play-calling by Bob provided all the right ingredients for a big win.
Johnson was key for Chicago, but after the game he looked like somebody had just run over his dog. "I thought we could do it. The whole game I was still thinking we were going to win. I guess that's the difference between thinking it and doing it. Give New York credit - they are nothing but class. I just feel sorry for coach Bob. He had us ready and we let him down."
New York was led by Crawford (13 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 4 blocks), Powell (12 points, 13 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Velazquez (15 points, 7 boards, 2 assists). Chicago was led by Johnson (8 points, 10 assists), Cobbs (12 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, a block), Spann (13 points, 8 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block).
New York have won their last 5 games and are now 9-2. They hold at #2 in the Atlantic and stay at #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Chicago drop to 3-7 and 3-2 at home after today's loss. They stay at #4 in the Central and drop to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
