CVBL: Detroit 100, Denver 87

Kay led Detroit to a big 100-87 win over Denver in this evening's matchup. "We figured we could play with them, but Kay really surprised us," said Denver coach Bob. "He really took us out of our game plan, and we never really figured out how to stop him. We'll just have to hope for a more normal performance next time we meet, and hopefully the final tally will be a little closer."

Detroit coach David Smith was enthusiastic about his star's performance. "That was really something, wasn't it? Certainly we take a realistic expectation into each game, but it really gives the whole team confidence to know that Kay can pull off a game like he did today."

Detroit was led by Kay (22 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Gilliam (17 points, 1 assists, a block), Rausch (8 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Denver was led by Schmidt (13 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Slayton (18 points, 1 assists, a steal), Ferguson (11 points, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks).

Detroit continue to roll and stand at 11-0. They hold at #1 in the Central and hold at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this defeat, Denver fall to 6-6 and 5-4 at home. They move down to #4 in the Northwest and drop to #10 overall in the Western Conference.
