CVBL: Miami Does What it Takes to Stun Cleveland 109-91
A great outing by Jasper was enough to offset a superior Cleveland team and key a 109-91 upset by Miami. There's no question that Cleveland is the better team, and even after today's loss they remain ranked ahead of Miami. But that wasn't important today, when Jasper took over and carried his team to a win. "What a gift," grinned Miami coach Bob. "The rest of the team got outplayed, but Jasper stepped up and got us the win. No complaints, but we'd be surprised to get another win over Cleveland."
Said losing coach Bob, "What a tough way to lose. It seemed like we had everything under control today. We pretty much did what we wanted, except for Jasper."
Miami was led by Jasper (18 points, 3 assists, a steal), Frost (12 points, 13 boards, 0 assists), Stancil (10 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block). Cleveland was led by Evans (7 points, 5 boards, 13 assists, 3 steals), Seger (8 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals), Powell (14 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a block).
Miami jump to 5-7 after today's victory. They improve to #4 in the Southeast and move up to #8 overall in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland fall to 6-6 and 4-1 at home with this loss. They stay at #3 in the Central and move down to #7 overall in the Eastern Conference.
