CVBL: Sacramento Pulls Out Win Over Brooklyn 79-70
The fans got what they came out for, as Sacramento won a seesaw 79-70 victory over Brooklyn. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Sacramento star Stanford. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Brooklyn coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Stanford and [Brooklyn star] Lee really put on a show for the fans."
Sacramento was led by Stanford (14 points, 32 boards, 2 assists, 5 blocks), Sherrill (13 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Davis (8 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a steal). Brooklyn was led by Lee (18 points, 16 boards, 2 assists, a block), Alves (9 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Spring (15 points, 2 blocks).
Sacramento stand at 10-2 and 5-1 at home with the victory. They remain at #1 in the Pacific and hold at #1 overall in the Western Conference. Brooklyn stand at 10-3. They drop to #2 in the Atlantic and move down to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference.
