CVBL: Memphis Gets Win Over Denver
Maxwell scored 40 points, as Memphis squeezed out a 120-110 win today against Denver. Both teams came out of the gates strong but a late game push by Memphis was just enough to hold off Denver. Coach Bob said, "This game is really a sign of things to come. We come out and play hard every night. Things are looking up, and the fans of Memphis have a lot to look forward to after this victory."
In the Denver locker room after the game, players were in a somber mood. Even after the great team performance led by Beachum, they still come up short. "We deserved to win. That was our game - we just need to be able to put our opposition away when we have them down. We really were the better team." said Beachum after the game.
Memphis was led by Maxwell (40 points, 3 assists, a steal, a block), Sigler (18 points, 18 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Adams (5 points, 6 boards, 16 assists, a steal). Denver was led by Beachum (35 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Davis (21 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, a block), Chopp (12 points, 6 boards, 0 assists).
After this win, Memphis stand at 9-2 and 5-0 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Denver are now 8-5 with this loss. They hold at #2 in the Northwest and stay at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
