CVBL: New York Gets a Big Win Against Toronto
Hollis's great game led New York to a 106-101 upset of Toronto. "He really gave us the win," said winning coach Bob. "I think the rest of the team really felt intimidated coming in, but Hollis showed them that we could pull off the win. You could really see the confidence build as time went on."
Moore paced Toronto, but his effort was not enough. "It's easy to blame the star when we come up short," said Toronto coach Bob. "But really, if we all played like him we'd have won. It's just that we sometimes take him for granted and sit around watching him dominate. Today's game served as a wake-up call for the rest of the team."
New York was led by Hollis (21 points, 16 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Brumfield (22 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, a block), Telford (16 points, 4 assists, a steal, 2 blocks). Toronto was led by Moore (16 points, 18 boards, 4 assists, a steal, a block), Chiles (5 points, 6 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals), Whitaker (16 points, 2 steals, a block).
After this victory, New York improve to 7-6. They move up to #3 in the Atlantic and move up to #6 overall in the Eastern Conference. After the defeat, Toronto fall to 7-5 and 3-1 at home. They drop to #2 in the Atlantic and drop to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
