CVBL: New York Beats Memphis
Powell led New York to victory today over Memphis in a 102-99 game. "It was a tough one to lose," said losing coach Bob. "I thought we had a great chance going in, and even now I think we'd have a great chance in a rematch. But Powell made the difference for his team, and we really didn't have an answer today."
New York coach Bob was equally admiring of his star. "Memphis were very well prepared for this game, and our boys weren't really ready for what they faced out there. I like to believe that we'd play a better all-around game when we play them again, but we'll be happy riding Powell and getting the win today."
New York was led by Powell (19 points, 16 boards, 1 assists, a block), Crawford (16 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Chatman (13 points, 2 steals). Memphis was led by Jensen (26 points, 1 assists, 2 steals), Hayes (18 points, a steal, a block), Murray (16 points, 2 assists, a steal, a block).
New York improve to 12-2 and 6-2 at home. They hold at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Memphis drop to 7-6. They stay at #2 in the Southwest and move down to #7 overall in the Western Conference.
