CVBL: Memphis Clobbers Phoenix
In one of the most important games of the season for both teams, Memphis upstaged Phoenix 120-97. Showing more glitter than a Brittany Spears concert, perfect Memphis execution, a brilliant game by Pittman, and impeccable play-calling by Bob provided all the right ingredients for a big win.
Adams was key for Phoenix, but after the game he looked like somebody had just run over his dog. "I thought we could do it. The whole game I was still thinking we were going to win. I guess that's the difference between thinking it and doing it. Give Memphis credit - they are nothing but class. I just feel sorry for coach Bob. He had us ready and we let him down."
Memphis was led by Pittman (11 points, 5 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Canul (8 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Demmy (9 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, a block). Phoenix was led by Adams (21 points, 11 boards, 1 assists), Bell (20 points, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Cruz (8 points, 2 steals, a block).
After the victory, Memphis stand at 12-3 and 6-1 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Phoenix stand at 7-6. They remain at #2 in the Pacific and move down to #9 overall in the Western Conference.
