CVBL: Atlanta Pulls Out Win Over Brooklyn 104-102
Monnett continues to dominate the league and helped Atlanta post an expected win over Brooklyn, 104-102. The game was a solid team effort, but Monnett - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Brooklyn key player, Hazan.
Monnett's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to Atlanta fans everywhere." Brooklyn coach Bob was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Monnett is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Hazan certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
Atlanta was led by Monnett (18 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Laws (24 points), Chandler (6 points, 7 assists, 2 steals). Brooklyn was led by Hazan (13 points, 5 boards, 9 assists, a steal), Duncan (14 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Tucker (17 points).
Atlanta are now 8-6. They move up to #1 in the Southeast and improve to #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn fall to 8-6 and 5-6 at home. They fall to #2 in the Atlantic and drop to #6 overall in the Eastern Conference.
