CVBL: Philadelphia Coasts Past New York

A great game by Flournoy led Philadelphia to a 98-87 defeat of New York. Although New York certainly planned for Flournoy in their pre-game strategy, stopping him during the game turned out to be more of a challenge. "We thought we knew how to beat Philadelphia, but we were dead wrong," said New York coach Bob. "We figured we'd try to put them out of their game plan and try to limit Flournoy's effectiveness, but it simply didn't happen - he was just too good."

Said Flournoy, "I knew I had a target on my back, and took it as a challenge. If they're going to change their game plan to stop me, it gives me that much more desire to step up and perservere. Anyway, they know what I can do now, so we'll see if they dare try this strategy again." Tune in next time.

Philadelphia was led by Flournoy (24 points, 2 blocks), Amoros (14 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a block), Roberson (14 points, 10 boards, 0 assists, a block). New York was led by Gause (14 points, 8 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Rowe (21 points, a steal, a block), Brumfield (13 points, 2 assists, a block).

Philadelphia jump to 9-6 with the victory. They advance to #1 in the Atlantic and improve to #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. New York fall to 5-9 and 4-4 at home. They hold at #4 in the Atlantic and move down to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
