CVBL: Charlotte Tops Detroit
The fans got what they came out for, as Charlotte won a seesaw 102-100 victory over Detroit. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Charlotte star Foster. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Detroit coach David Smith was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Foster and [Detroit star] Bigelow really put on a show for the fans."
Charlotte was led by Foster (30 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block), Carreon (5 points, 17 assists, 2 steals), Cullum (22 points, a block). Detroit was led by Bigelow (15 points, 21 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks), Merriman (24 points, 2 blocks), Marko (20 points, 3 blocks).
Charlotte improve to 8-5 and 4-2 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southeast and move up to #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. After the defeat, Detroit drop to 8-5. They stay at #1 in the Central and fall to #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
