CVBL: Utah Defeats Denver 77-69
Utah overcame a great game by Davis, beating Denver 77-69. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Davis out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Davis) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Davis was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Utah was led by Perkins (9 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 4 blocks), Patton (23 points, 2 blocks), Robinson (20 points, 1 assists, a steal). Denver was led by Davis (12 points, 16 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Banks (17 points, 2 steals), Beachum (14 points, 2 steals).
Utah are now 11-3 after the win. They remain at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Denver drop to 8-7 and 6-2 at home after this defeat. They move down to #5 in the Northwest and move down to #9 overall in the Western Conference.
