CVBL: Phoenix Beats Milwaukee 94-85
A solid outing by Cruz led Phoenix to a 94-85 win over Milwaukee. "Take away Cruz, and we'd have won this thing," said Milwaukee coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Phoenix over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Phoenix coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Cruz do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Cruz will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Phoenix was led by Cruz (16 points, 2 steals, a block), Adams (23 points, 7 boards, 1 assists), Hall (19 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals). Milwaukee was led by Yates (25 points, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Young (12 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, a steal, a block), Ellison (8 points, 5 assists, 3 steals).
With this victory, Phoenix stand at 8-6 and 4-2 at home. They hold at #2 in the Pacific and improve to #8 overall in the Western Conference. Milwaukee are now 6-7 with the loss. They hold at #2 in the Central and fall to #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
