CVBL: Utah Takes Out Milwaukee in a Big Win for Coach Young
Henderson's great game led Utah to a 84-78 upset of Milwaukee. "He really gave us the win," said winning coach Coach Young. "I think the rest of the team really felt intimidated coming in, but Henderson showed them that we could pull off the win. You could really see the confidence build as time went on."
Williams paced Milwaukee, but his effort was not enough. "It's easy to blame the star when we come up short," said Milwaukee coach Bob. "But really, if we all played like him we'd have won. It's just that we sometimes take him for granted and sit around watching him dominate. Today's game served as a wake-up call for the rest of the team."
Utah was led by Henderson (18 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, 6 blocks), Riser (7 points, 8 boards, 10 assists, 4 steals, a block), Fripp (16 points, 2 steals, a block). Milwaukee was led by Williams (15 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a steal), Howe (18 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals), Mitchel (22 points, 5 boards, 0 assists).
Utah jump to 8-5. They advance to #2 in the Northwest and move up to #4 overall in the Western Conference. Milwaukee halted their winning streak at 5 games, and stand at 10-5 and 5-4 at home. They remain at #2 in the Central and hold at #4 overall in the Eastern Conference.
