CVBL: Phoenix Beats Brooklyn
The fans got what they came out for, as Phoenix won a seesaw 103-100 victory over Brooklyn. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Phoenix star Green. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Brooklyn coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Green and [Brooklyn star] Spring really put on a show for the fans."
Phoenix was led by Green (23 points, 7 boards, 1 assists), Mercer (5 points, 10 assists, 3 steals), Celaya (17 points, 3 assists, a block). Brooklyn was led by Spring (26 points, 0 assists, a block), Jobe (14 points, 3 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Alves (7 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks).
Phoenix jump to 7-9 with this win. They stay at #3 in the Pacific and hold at #11 overall in the Western Conference. After this defeat, Brooklyn fall to 6-8 and 3-3 at home. They remain at #2 in the Atlantic and drop to #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
