CVBL: San Antonio Pulls Out Upset of Sacramento
San Antonio pulled off the upset, beating Sacramento in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving Sacramento a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept Sacramento coach Bob guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Feaster and others, gave San Antonio the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."
San Antonio was led by Feaster (16 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks), Almanzar (14 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals), Mackey (24 points, 5 boards, 2 assists). Sacramento was led by Christie (19 points, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Crandell (15 points, 7 boards, 0 assists), Coleman (9 points, a steal, 3 blocks).
San Antonio are now 9-6 and 6-3 at home with this win. They move up to #2 in the Southwest and move up to #5 overall in the Western Conference. Sacramento fall to 12-4. They hold at #1 in the Pacific and hold at #1 overall in the Western Conference.
