CVBL: Cleveland Express Steamrolls Denver 111-103
The fans got what they came out for, as Cleveland won a seesaw 111-103 victory over Denver. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Cleveland star Martin. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Denver coach Bob was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Martin and [Denver star] Phillips really put on a show for the fans."
Cleveland was led by Martin (31 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, a block), Stancil (12 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Wall (12 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a steal). Denver was led by Phillips (16 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Schmidt (27 points, a steal), White (15 points, 1 assists, a steal, a block).
Cleveland stand at 7-8 and 3-3 at home. They hold at #3 in the Central and stay at #9 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the loss, Denver stand at 9-7. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and hold at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
