CVBL: Philadelphia Comes up Big Over Denver

A solid outing by Ferguson led Philadelphia to a 87-83 win over Denver. "Take away Ferguson, and we'd have won this thing," said Denver coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Philadelphia over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."

Philadelphia coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Ferguson do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Ferguson will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."

Philadelphia was led by Ferguson (12 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block), Norman (16 points, a steal, 3 blocks), Pearson (15 points, 4 assists, a steal). Denver was led by Wise (6 points, 4 steals), Davis (12 points, 16 boards, 3 assists), Beachum (16 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a block).

With the win, Philadelphia jump to 8-8 and 4-3 at home. They stay at #1 in the Atlantic and stay at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Denver stand at 8-8. They stay at #4 in the Northwest and hold at #8 overall in the Western Conference.
