CVBL: Detroit Wins 93-82
Gilliam was unstoppable today, leading Detroit to a 93-82 win over Brooklyn. "I've never seen anything like that," said Brooklyn star Spring. "Gilliam just flat-out dominated, and there was nothing any of us could do about it." Agreed coach Bob, "He's an excellent talent with an excellent coach. I'm afraid that we'll be seeing more of him down the road."
Gilliam refused to get caught up in the excitement, however. "I just did what coach told me to do," he said. "And we couldn't have won without my teammates doing their best as well." While true, Gilliam certainly increased the margin of victory from a close call to a solid win.
Detroit was led by Gilliam (26 points, 3 blocks), Henderson (13 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Chapman (9 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, a steal, 2 blocks). Brooklyn was led by Spring (21 points, a steal), Lee (8 points, 0 assists, a steal, 4 blocks), Olson (17 points, 2 blocks).
Detroit are still perfect and are now 15-0. They stay at #1 in the Central and stay at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn extended their losing streak 5 games and fall to 10-6 and 6-2 at home. They remain at #3 in the Atlantic and remain at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
